BIOGRAPHY
Starting violin at five, Gloria Yunwon Lee made her first solo debut at 11 with the Haywood Youth Orchestra in California. Since then she has performed at the Mirabelle Palace in Salzburg, Austria; Cremona, Italy; and across the United States. A native of Gainesville, Florida she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida receiving three bachelor degrees (B.M. in Violin Performance; B.A. in Music History and Literature; B.A. in Political Science), and thereafter completed her Master’s of Music at the University of Kentucky as a Teaching Assistant. She is currently on the Adjunct Faculty at New York University teaching Violin to undergraduate students while maintaining studies under Concertmaster of New York City Ballet, Kurt Nikkanen and international soloist, Giora Schmidt.
Gloria has played extensively in various masterclasses learning from Felix Andrievsky, Elmar Oliveira, Nicola Benedetti, and other great artists. Since the age of fourteen she has performed with professional orchestras including, but not limited to, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. She has also shared the stage with international artists such as Joshua Bell, Lee Chin Siow, Alexandre Brussilovsky, Ransom Wilson, and others. She has been invited to participate in Round Top Festival Institute, Miami Summer Music Festival, Cremona International Music Festival, Catskills High Peaks Festival, and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival.
Gloria was awarded the Second Runner Up in the Medallion International Artists Competition in March 2018, and was a finalist in the Collegiate Virtuoso Concerto Competition (October 2016).
